NCAA Tournament: Lacrosse Ends Season at Gettysburg

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The Notre Dame lacrosse team faced Westminster College Saturday afternoon in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament.  After going goal-for-goal against the Titans in the first half, the Gators fell behind in the second half, falling 16-8.

Senior Kirstin McGee scored the opening goal, giving the Gators a 1-0 advantage in the opening minute of play.  After back-to-back goals by Westminster, freshman Stephanie Morgan tied up the game at two apiece, goal assisted by senior Megan Morales.

After nearly 10 minutes of scoreless play by both teams, Morales scored her first of the game off a free position shot to give the Gators a 3-2 advantage.  The Titans quickly evened the score on the next draw control with just over 17 minutes left in the first half.

Westminster again would retake the lead at the 15 minute mark, but their lead did not last long.  McGee scored her second of the game off a free position goal, for the fourth tied score of the game.

To close out the half, the Titans went on a 4-2 run to go into the half up 8-6.

The Gators struggled to get on the board in the second half.  After scoring two goals in the first 10 minutes, Notre Dame failed to score again.

Morales and Morgan led the team with three goals apiece, a career high for Morgan.  McGee added two scores, while adding one assist.  Morales and junior Loren Pardoe also finished the game with one assist.

In goal for Notre Dame, sophomore Marie Salas posted 12 saves.

The Gators closes out their first Colonial States Athletic Conference Championship season 11-6 overall.  They earned their first bid to the NCAA Tournament.

Morales finished the year with a 106 which is good for third in the NCAA.  She had an impressive career, posting 289 goals and 315 points.  McGee also reached major milestones in her final season, finishing her career with 119 goals, 107 assists, and 226 points.
