BALTIMORE, Md. – Notre Dame field hockey notched a thrilling overtime victory Saturday afternoon in their second game in less than 24 hours. After suffering a tough loss Friday evening, the Gators scored their third victory of the season, defeating Eastern Mennonite University in overtime, 4-3.
The Gators got on the board early in the first quarter, as sophomore
Vanessa Dunn scored her first for NDMU, assisted by
Hailey Lockard.
In the second quarter, Notre Dame extended their lead to 2-0, when Lockard notched her second of the season. The Royals battled back. In the 19
th minute, EMU posted their first of the game and then with seconds left in the half scored an equalizer.
NDMU and EMU went into halftime tied at two apiece.
In the third, the Royals took a one goal lead late in the quarter.
With 10 minutes left to play in regulation, Dunn notched her second of the game, scoring off a ball from Lockard.
With the score tied at three, the Gators and Royals headed into overtime.
In the opening seconds, Notre Dame came out strong. With only 30 second off the clock, sophomore
Kelsey Campbell scored the game winner, assisted by sophomore
Maia Giafes.
Dunn led the team with three shots, while the team finished with five.
Sophomore
Fallon Katz had a dominate day in goal for the Gators. She posted 10 saves, while facing 18 shots in the game.

The Gators are back home on Tuesday against Immaculata University.
