BALTIMORE, Md. – The Notre Dame field hockey is back in the win column Sunday afternoon after defeating Sweet Briar College, 2-1. The Gators celebrated NCAA Division III OneTeam, hosting their OneTeam game. NDMU celebrated their first OneTeam Week, September 16-21.
In the first quarter, the Gators opened up scoring as sophomore
Maia Giafes notched her third goal of the season, assisted by sophomore
Vanessa Dunn.
Later in the second quarter, the Gators added on to their lead, when in the 24
th minute, junior
Hailey Lockard posted her third of the season.
Five minutes later, Sweet Briar got on the board. NDMU held a narrow, 2-1 lead for the rest of the game.
In the second half the Gators held on tough despite a strong effort from both teams. In the first half, NDMU outshot the Vixen 12-1, but in the second both teams posted two shots.
In goal for the Gators, sophomore
Fallon Katz posted two clutch saves in the second half, to help maintain the NDMU lead.
WHAT'S NEXT?
Field hockey has the week off, but will return to play on Saturday as they start their Colonial States Athletic Conference play against Cedar Crest.
