Notre Dame of Maryland University Removes Interim Tag From Women’s Basketball Coach, Kalin Wynn

BALTIMORE, Md. – The Notre Dame of Maryland University Department of Athletics announced today that the current Interim Head Women's Basketball Coach, Kalin Wynn, has removed his interim tag, being promoted to Head Women's Basketball Coach for the 2020-21 basketball season.

During his time as Interim Head Coach, Coach Wynn led the Gators to their second Colonial States Athletic Conference Playoff showing, finishing as number three in the CSAC for the 2019-20 basketball season. The Gators ended with a record of 17-9 overall and 13-6 in CSAC play. Additionally, the women's basketball team had four student-athletes earn CSAC postseason honors. Sophomore Daija Fitchett was selected as CSAC Defensive Player of the Year and Second-Team All-CSAC, while freshman Ayana Brim won Rookie of the Year and First-Team All-CSAC. Furthermore, freshman Ariana Alleyne posted Second-Team All-CSAC honors and freshman Jaylah Lewis finished with the CSAC All-Sportsmanship title.  Coach Wynn previously coached the Gators as assistant coach for two years, before stepping up as the Interim Head Coach this past 2019-20 season.

"We are proud to remove the interim tag from Coach Wynn, as he has shown true commitment to our student-athletes and the university through his actions," says Director of Athletics and Wellness, Renee Bostic. "We are excited about the direction the program is moving in."

When asked about his emotions regarding taking on this role, Coach Wynn stated, "I am extremely grateful to have the opportunity to continue leading the Basketball program here at NDMU. I look forward to continuing to build this program and leading it in a positive direction, both athletically and academically. I have a great group of Assistant Coaches that have worked extremely hard and will continue to work hard to grow the program here at NDMU." He also extends his thanks to the Gator community for embracing him with open arms.

The NDMU Basketball team looks to build upon the success of their 2019-20 season, with Head Coach Wynn leading the way. Coach Wynn will lean on the support of his assistant coaches, along with core members of his team. The Gators are primed for a strong and exciting 2020-21 season.
