Field Hockey Suffers Road Loss at Goucher

BALTIMORE - Notre Dame of Maryland University's field hockey team drops to (1-6, 0-2 CSAC) on the season at Goucher College (1-8) on Tuesday evening. The Gators got great shots off and were effective in gaining penalty corner attempts but would ultimately fall 8-0. 

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • In the first period, two penalty corners by Alyson Geckle, got the Gators leading scorer Vanessa Dunn in perfect position for a well-timed shot that was just saved by Goucher. 
  • Later in the period, the Gophers would get off a shot stopped by Jensen Armstrong. A late score would give Goucher a 1-0 lead. 
  • Dunn would tally two shots on goal to lead the Gators. 
  • Maia Giafes got in on the offensive action for Notre Dame. She and Geckle got great looks at goal on the evening.

OF NOTE 
  • NDMU shot 4-4 on the evening.
  • Notre Dame won the penalty corner battle 12-9
  • The Gators will be seeking its first win against the Gophers since its 6-2 win in 2003.
