Gators Fall in Conference Finals

BALTIMORE – The No. 2 seed Notre Dame of Maryland volleyball team won nine conference matches before falling to the top-seeded Cedar Crest in the CSAC Championship match on Saturday afternoon. The Gators will end the season 14-12 and 8-1 in the CSAC.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Gabbi Taganas, Emma Mueller, and Jade Stewart got the offense going for the Gators in the first set. Notre Dame got off to an early 4-1 lead. The Gators and Falcons traded good hits for much of the set. 
  • The Gators trailed 20-19 late in the set after Taganas spiked a score followed by a much-needed block for Gator hopefuls. She had five kills on the afternoon. 
  • Notre Dame went on to lose the set 25-20. Cedar Crest controlled the remainder of the match.
  • Stewart and Ciarra Bockstie each had five kills. Mueller added four and Miasia Ferrer had three for the Gators offense
  • On defense, Stephen Morgan and Natalie Newton each had double-digit digs. Newton had eight assists and Mueller led the Gators with 12
 
OF NOTE
  • Four Gators including Angel Carino, Taganas, Mueller, and Newton were named to the 2021 All-Conference team Tuesday by the league office.
  • Notre Dame ends the season with a trip to the conference finals and a 9-1 record against conference opponents. 
  • The Gators will end the year 14-12 overall.
