Gators Fall in Straight Sets

BALTIMORE – The Notre Dame (Md.) volleyball team (5-8) missed out on adding another victory to the win column after a 3-0 (14-25, 21-25, 19-25) to Catholic University (3-13) on Wednesday evening. The Gators will shift their focus to CSAC play when they welcome Cairn University to town on Thursday evening for the conference opener. 


HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Gators fell behind 7-2 early but came storming back after stealing the setpoint to get the ball in the hands of Stephanie Morgan to turn the monument in favor of Notre Dame.
  • Tied 8-8 in the first, the Cardinals went on a run to win the set 25-14.
  • In the second set, the Gators got into a rhythm on the back of Gabbi Taganas who had five kills on the evening.
  • Taganas and Paulina Hernandez each had five kills to lead the Gators' attack. NDMU would drop the second 25-21 before falling later in the third to give Catholic the win.

OF NOTE
  • Miasia Ferrer had her best outing as a Gator. She tallied three kills in the last set.
  • Hernandez led Notre Dame (Md.) with 12 digs with Angel Carino adding 10 of her own.
  • Assist leader Emma Mueller added eight assists to her season lead. Natalie Newton was credited with seven assists.

The Gators will begin CSAC play on Tomorrow at 7 p.m. against Cairn University at MBK Sports Complex.
