Field Hockey Defeated at McDaniel

BALTIMORE – Notre Dame of Maryland University's field hockey team (0-1) dropped its first game of the new year 9-0 at McDaniel (1-0) on Thursday afternoon. The Gators will hit the reset button and return to action on Sept. 11 for its home opener against Drew University.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Gators allowed McDaniel to get things rolling with an unassisted score from Emma Legacy.
  • The Green Terrors would add two more scores to end the period.
  • Alyson Geckle got a good look at goal early in the second but shot just wide of the goalpost.
  • McDaniel found the back of the net twice in the second quarter to go up 5-0.
  • NDMD was held scoreless the rest of the way.
OF NOTE
  • Jensen Armstrong was responsible for 15 saves on the evening.
  • McDaniel held the advantage with penalty corners 12-1.
  • Notre Dame (Md.) was outshot 29-1 four freshmen took the field for their first collegiate game as Gators.
