Gators Soccer Drops To 1-1 In Runaway Defeat

BALTIMORE –  Notre Dame of Maryland University's soccer team (1-1-0) had a rough day in the office as the Gators fell 6-0 on Sunday afternoon against Drew University Rangers (1-0). Despite the final score, Notre Dame (Md.) defense was sound early on but the offensive opportunities for the Gators were sparse. The Rangers would go on to spend the majority of the day in the Gators half of the field in route to its first win.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Freshman Julie Mullaney was tested early on, ending the game with 11 saves for Notre Dame (Md.)
  • Alexa Krause got Drew on the board in the 28th minute, scoring the first of two goals on the evening.
  • Senior Sara Morales took her shot at an equalizer on a free kick attempt in the 31st minute.
  • Drew scored two goals with just under three minutes remaining in the half to stretch their lead to three goals.
  • After a missed penalty by junior Kayla Grube, the Rangers added three goals in the second half.

OF NOTE
  • NDMD was outshot by a wide margin of 30-2.
  • Notre Dame (Md.) fell short in the corner category 6-0.
  • Drew took 18 shots that landed on target to NDMD one near score.
  • Mullaney has 14 saves on the season.
