BALTIMORE, MD – The Notre Dame of Maryland basketball team held Keystone (6-5, 4-2 CSAC) scoreless for much of the second quarter in route to a 77-56 blowout win on Thursday evening. Alexis Durham was 7-of-14 from three for 27 points, nine assists, and seven rebounds. Her seven triples tied Stephanie Roche (2016), Debbi Pearson (1992), and Gloria Broady who did it twice in 2007.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Gators started the game 3-of-4 up 6-4 early with Durham finding her open teammates. The freshman guard scored seven straight points for the Gators along with the first of many would-be triples.
- Durham found Daija Fitchett on back-to-back possessions to give Notre Dame a 17-12 lead. She finished the first quarter with five assists and Fitchett had six scores as the Gators went 9-of-15 on 62.5 percent shooting.
- In the second, Notre Dame went on to score 20 unanswered points, holding the Giants to 0-8 shooting with 10 points coming off forced turnovers.
- Durham added three long balls and Chantel Curry made two threes in the quarter to give the Gators a commanding 42-21 into the half.
- The Gators continued the lights out shooting in the third quarter, extending their lead to as many as 29 points. Fitchett had eight points on 4-of-5 shooting. Durham added two more threes to her total.
- Like the start to the second quarter, Durham knocked down her seventh three-pointer of the night to start the fourth.
- Adrianna Fletcher got in on the three-point action tying Monica Cherry (2002-06) for the 4th most threes in program history with 114.
OF NOTE
- Notre Dame led by as many as 34 points and shot 48.4 percent from the floor and 10-for-22 from deep range. The 10 triples are the most made threes by the team since 2018 (Clarks Summit 1/18/18).
- Fitchett went for 21 points on 10-of-13 shooting. She comes in No. 11 on the CSAC scoring list and is top-3 in field-goal percentage at 51 percent. She maintains her lead as the league's top defender and rebounder (13.6 rebounds & 1.8 blocks).
- Durham finished with double figures for the 9th time this season. She's averaging 23.5 points in the last four contests and is amongst the league's top-10 scorers.
- Chantel Curry is shooting 50 percent from three in her last two appearances.
