CLARKS SUMMIT, Pa. –
Gabbi Taganas led the offense with 11 kills, while
Paulina Hernandez's seven aces matched a career high during a 3-0 victory for Notre Dame of Maryland University at Clarks Summit to conclude the regular season. Set scores were 25-9, 25-12, 25-14.
Taganas hit .563 while reaching double figures in kills for a sixth time on the year, and Hernandez also supplied nine digs for the Gators (16-7, 8-1 CSAC). Saturday's sweep clinched the No. 2 seed in next week's CSAC tournament for NDMU, which will host a semifinal matchup at MBK Sports Complex at 7 p.m. on Thursday.
Eight different Gators had at least one kill in the match, as the visitors hit a season-best .311 overall as a team.
Ciarra Bockstie supplied six kills (.417) and three blocks,
Jade Stewart added five kills and seven digs, and
Emma Mueller finished with three kills and 11 assists.
Hernandez's 67 aces lead the CSAC, while her 4.41 digs per set are second in the conference. She has recorded multiple aces in 18 of 23 appearances this fall.
Natalie Newton added 13 assists and a pair of aces in the victory, as NDMU improved to 14-1 in its last 15 matches.
The Gators will host either No. 3 Cairn, No. 4 Keystone or No. 5 Rosemont in Thursday's semifinal. They received a bye for the opening round, which will take place on Tuesday night.
