Volleyball Falls at Cedar Crest in CSAC Final

ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Another memorable season for Notre Dame of Maryland University volleyball came to an end in Saturday's Colonial States Athletic Conference championship match, as top-seeded Cedar Crest recorded a 3-0 victory on its home court. Set scores were 25-23, 25-13, 25-15.

Rosemary O'Brien hit .240 while totaling a team-high seven kills for the Gators (17-8), and she also matched a season best with seven digs. Jade Stewart led the defense with 18 digs, while Stewart and Paulina Hernandez both fired in a pair of aces.

Ciarra Bockstie had another strong performance at the net, leading all defenders with five blocks. Bockstie finished with 12 blocks overall in the CSAC tournament after she supplied seven in Thursday's semifinal victory over Cairn. Emma Mueller and Natalie Newton each reached double figures in digs with 10 apiece, with Newton adding a team-high nine assists.

NDMU held leads of 9-4 and 11-7 early in the first set, and the visitors leveled the set at 23 apiece following an O'Brien kill and a Bockstie block. The Falcons, though, won the next two points, and they maintained their momentum in the next two sets.

The Gators went 15-2 over their final 17 matches, with both defeats during that stretch coming to Cedar Crest. The Falcons earn the CSAC's automatic bid to next week's NCAA Division III tournament.
