BALTIMORE, MD – The Notre Dame of Maryland lacrosse team (2-3, 0-0 CSAC) was defeated at Goucher College (2-8, 0-1 Landmark) on Wednesday evening. Sara Morales recorded her fifth straight hat-trick to begin the season but the Gophers held the Gators to just three scores after three periods to pull away with the 16-6 win. Notre Dame will look to shake off the loss in conference play when Bryn Athyn comes to Alumnae Field on Saturday. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• For the third consecutive game this season, Sara Morales broke the game open with the first score. She went on to score her fifth consecutive hat-trick and added seven draw controls and three caused turnovers to the stat sheet.
• Goucher tied the game three minutes into the period and took the advantage on back-to-back scores from Julia Gazzola.
• The Gophers held on to an 8-1 lead late into the second before Hannah Mullaney scored her fourth goal of the season with 1:04 on the clock. 
• Brooke Siebert netted her 13th goal on a pass from Jade Stewart. Stewart currently holds a team-high 12 assists and ranks 35th in Division III in assists per game.
• Siebert led the team with three ground balls and caused two turnovers. She won three draw controls in the loss.
• Sarah Generoso made her first career start away from the goal and tallied a late goal on the attack. She picked up two ground balls along with forcing a turnover.

OF NOTE

• With 29 goals to lead the Gators, Morales currently ranks No. 4 in Division III for goals per game (5.8).
• Colette Hayes-Williams made her first career start in goal for the Gators and came away with three saves.
• Notre Dame falls to 9-9 all-time against Goucher.
