Ferrum Edges Field Hockey in Overtime

BALTIMORE – Ferrum's Riley Hines scored a pair of goals, including the game-winner 10 minutes into overtime, to help the visiting Panthers secure a 2-1 victory over Notre Dame of Maryland University on Friday night.

Alyson Geckle opened the scoring for the Gators, recording her first goal of the season just 2:10 into the opening quarter. She has now factored in both of NDMU's goals this season after assisting on Jaime Ballard's strike at Neumann on Tuesday.

Hines leveled up the score midway through the third quarter and provided the game-winner on an unassisted strike in extra time. Ferrum (3-1) had a 13-4 advantage in shots.

Harley Barton made 10 saves while playing all 70 minutes in goal for NDMU. Geckle had two shots, while Ballard and Emma Huddler also added shots for the home side.

The Gators return to Alumnae Field next Friday afternoon, hosting Southern Virginia at 4 p.m.
