BALTIMORE– The Notre Dame of Maryland women's volleyball team celebrated senior day by sweep St. Elizabeth University to earn their ninth straight victory on Saturday, Oct. 28. The Gators secured the victory thanks to set scores of 25-11, 25-12 and 25-16.
The Gators (14-8 Overall, 7-1 United East) controlled the net, slamming down several overpasses and recording five blocks. Ciarra Bockstie led the charge, finishing a team-high 10 kills on just 16 swings. Miasia Ferrer and Jade Stewart made their presence known, hammering down eight kills each. The Gators held an 8-1 edge in service aces with five different Gators registering an ace.
During the third set of the match, NDMU celebrated a milestone as Natalie Newton became the eighth player in school history to reach 1,000 career assists. Newton reached this mark in only three seasons.
Defensively, Paulina Hernandez led the way for the Gators, posting nine digs. Emma Mueller added eight more digs while Victoria Wong posted a career-high seven digs. The Gators finished the match with a 48-42 edge in digs.
WHO'S NEXT?
The Gators will close out the regular season when they host Rosemont University on Tuesday, Oct. 31. The first serve is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
