Gators Shine In Opening Day Victory

BALTIMORE- The Notre Dame of Maryland women's soccer team opened the season with a dominant 9-0 victory over Gallaudet University on Friday, Sept. 2.

The Freshmen class wasted no time making an impact, with freshman Tchala Ungwa scoring a goal in the fifth minute. Ungwa hammered a shot into the back of the goal off a great pass from Anna Choudhary. NDMU struck two more times in the first half with newcomers Adrienne Villa and Jillian Seay each finding the back of the net.

Seay started the second half with a bang, rocketing a shot from the edge of the 18-yard box to extend the Gators lead to four. Mackenzie Lookingland joined the offensive explosion, netting two goals in a three-minute span, including a spectacular shot from the edge of the box that perfectly snuck under the crossbar.

Averee Radonovich scored her first goal of the season, converting a penalty kick opportunity to give the Gators an 8-0 lead. In the 81st minute, Joe Cruz-Martinez set up Villa directly in front of the goal, allowing her to score her second goal of the game. Seay closed out the scoring, netting her first career hat trick in the process, securing the 9-0 victory.
