BALTIMORE - The Notre Dame of Maryland men's basketball team could not overcome a great shooting performance by Cairn University, falling to the Highlanders by a score of 93-75 on Saturday, Jan. 6.
The Gators fell behind early, as the Highlanders opened the game on a 10-3 run. K'Won Johnson and Marquis James steadied the offense, hitting layups to close the gap. The Highlanders responded, going on a 10-0 to pull away. The Gators tried to cut into the deficit, but NDMU trailed 56-34 at the half.
NDMU tried to close the gap, with Jalen Yates hitting a 3-pointer early in the half. Johnson nailed back-to-back jumpers to keep the Gators with 21 points. NDMU closed within 15 points after a 3-pointer by Johnson with over five minutes remaining in the half. The Gators would get no closer, eventually falling by a score of 93-75.
