NDMU Women's Volleyball team delivered an impressive performance against the University of Valley Forge, this past Saturday, Nov 2. Winning decisively in straight sets with scores of 25-6, 25-8, and 25-13. This commanding victory was marked by strong serving, balanced offense, and an impenetrable defense, allowing the Gators to control the match from start to finish.
On the offensive end, Morgan Perzan led the way with six kills, consistently finding ways to power through Valley Forge's defense. Ciarra Bockstie and Myla Palmer also contributed effectively at the net, each adding four kills to keep the attack well-rounded and unpredictable. Notre Dame's serve was a major contributor of points in this match, with Izzy Stewart leading the charge with an impressive four aces. Palmer and Shelbey Willson were equally effective, each tallying three aces to put pressure on Valley Forge's reception and create scoring opportunities. Their combined serving efforts prevented Valley Forge from establishing any offensive momentum.
Defensively, the team was solid at the net and in the back row. Bockstie and Rosemary O'Brien each registered a block, providing a strong frontline presence that shut down several of Valley Forge's attacks. Stewart, once again a key player, led all players with 11 digs, ensuring that Valley Forge's attempts to gain points were continuously thwarted. O'Brien and Paulina Hernandez contributed with five and four digs, respectively, showing Notre Dame's depth in defensive skill and teamwork. Setting up the offense was Shelbey Willson, who led the team with 11 assists. Willson's accurate ball placement allowed Notre Dame's hitters to stay in rhythm and maintain their aggressive play. Emma Mueller and Stewart also contributed with two assists each, reinforcing the team's well-rounded approach and ability to execute smoothly on offense leading NDMU to a victory.
