BALTIMORE - The Notre Dame of Maryland men's basketball team fell to Rosemont College on a buzzer beat by a score of 61-59 on Thursday, Feb. 10.
The Gators raced out to an early lead, behind layups from Jahbreco Dacosta and a 3-pointer by K'Won Johnson taking a 10-3 lead. The Ravens fought back, using a 10-4 run to cut their deficit down to one. Dezmyn Nicholson and Marquis James knocked down jumpers to keep NDMU in front. Jermaine Koger Jr. raced out on the break, finishing a layup in transition to make the score 23-16. Rosemont once again battled back, using an 8-1 run to tie the game with 6:38 remaining in the first half. The teams traded the lead down the stretch with a steal and score by Amari Bell giving NDMU a 29-28 lead going into the half.
Rosemont captured the momentum early in the second half, building a 41-35 lead six minutes into the half. The Gators tried to battle back staying within striking distance until Jalen Yates connected on a 3-pointer to tie the game at 47. Both teams made clutch shots, trading the lead with the Raven clinging to five-point advantage with just over a minute remaining. Koger Jr. and Yates each hit layups in transition pulling the Gators back within one point. After a free throw by Rosemont, K'Won Johnson earned a trip to the free throw line, hitting a pair of free throws to tie the game at 59. The Ravens converted a layup in the final seconds, giving them a 61-59 victory.

Johnson led the Gators in scoring, finishing with 13 points to go along with five rebounds.

Dacosta posted a double-double, finishing with 13 points and 14 rebounds.

Koger Jr. also recorded a double-double, scoring 12 points and grabbing 12 rebounds.

The Gators will hit the road, traveling to face Keystone College on Saturday, Feb. 10. The tip-off is scheduled for 3:00 PM.
