Men's Basketball sets program record with a back-to-back win against Penn State Brandywine

Media, PA - Notre Dame Men's Basketball team breaks program history with a back-to-back win against Penn State Brandywine bringing the Gators to a 5-8 record. Starting off the game strong NDMU wins the jump ball giving the green light to the Natty Lions defense. The Gators obtained their first 2 points of the match with a layup from #55, Ahmad Harrison. Notre Dame keeps possession of the ball with a rebound from #1, Jackson Pugh but the Natty Lions fight back with a layup bringing the score 2-2. The Gators kept the momentum going in the first half getting another driving layup. The Natty Lions quickly followed behind with a driving layup as well. Notre Dame keeps their defense on lock before calling a full time out. Following the timeout the Natty Lions received a 10 second violation giving the free throw to NDMU but keeping the score at 12-6. Until Chandler Johnson, #7 pulled up with a 3 point jump shot to bring the Gators closer to the Natty Lions.

 #0 Jermaine Koger Jr. Blocked a shot from PSU giving the ball back to Notre Dame keeping the fight going, NDMU won the rebound but missed the shot for Penn State to capture the ball. #12 Jamal Lee gets the ball back for Notre Dame while being rewarded a free throw making both shots for the Gators. With 4:44 left in the first Brandywine calls a timeout. Keeping the defense strong with a tip off from #55, Ahmad Harrison to #14, Corwin Holland III to finish off with a strong dunk Notre Dame!

2nd half of the match starts off with another dunk for the Gators, #33, Dylan Long assisted from #55, Ahmad Harrison just 3 minutes into the half. Followed by 2 free throws to bring the score 26, NDMU 32 Natty Lions. PSU picked up momentum blocking shots from offense, until the Gators chomped down and gained possession of the ball before tying the game and a timeout was called. Notre Dame keeps the fire burning with a steal from #55 and a 3 point jump shot from #1 pushing them up by 5. Offense keeps it on lock getting the rebound to reset the game. Penn State pulls up again, missing the shot allowing the Gators to swoop through with another 3. Bringing  the 10 point lead was #1, Jackson Pugn with a jump shot for the Gators. PSU returns with their first point of the 2nd half with a layup to bring the score 40-47 at 7:22.  Both battle the final few minutes out bringing tension to the crowd. Up 15 points, NDMU shoots their final shot before Brandywine calls a timeout. Once the timeout was complete, the Natty Lions kept going until the final buzzer. Bringing the final score 66 NDMU, 49 Penn State Bradywine

 

The Gators are back on the road Saturday January 8, 2025 at Abington, PA to match up against Penn State Abington, 3:30 pm.
