Reading, PA — The Notre Dame of Maryland volleyball team put together one of its most efficient performances of the season Tuesday night, sweeping Penn State Berks 3–0 (25–14, 25–21, 25–7) in United East Conference play.
The Gators (11–5, 3–2 UEC) controlled the match from start to finish, hitting .272 as a team and limiting the Nittany Lions to just 13 total kills.
Kaliyah Brown led the offensive charge with 14 kills on .333 hitting while adding 10 digs for a strong double-double performance.
Alyson Lackovic filled the stat sheet with 10 kills, 13 assists, and 6 digs, while middle hitter
Gwen Abnett contributed 6 kills and a team-high 3 blocks. Setter
Shelbey Willson orchestrated the attack with 23 assists and added 3 service aces and 5 digs.
Defensively,
Izzy Stewart anchored the back row with a match-high 19 digs, while
Carissa Tanseco chipped in 9. The Gators totaled 57 digs as a team and tallied 7 aces and 4 total blocks.
Notre Dame rolled through the first set behind a .462 hitting percentage, then fought off a late rally from Berks in the second. The Gators closed the night emphatically, jumping out to a 10–2 lead in the third and never looking back in a dominant 25–7 win to seal the sweep.
Notre Dame (MD) returns to action this weekend as the Gators look to continue their strong midseason form when they host non-conference Hood College on Thursday, October 16 at 7 PM.
