Gators Close Out Regular Season With 3-0 Victory

Baltimore, MD -The Notre Dame of Maryland men's soccer team turned in one of its strongest performances of the season on Saturday afternoon, blanking Penn State Brandywine 3–0 at Alumnae Field. The Gators dominated both sides of the ball, scoring all three goals in the second half while limiting the Lions to just one shot on goal. NDM also celebrated senior day as the pair of goalkeepers Mateo Gularte and Gabriel Gendarme were honored before kickoff.

After a scoreless first half despite a flurry of Notre Dame chances, the breakthrough came in the 50th minute when Tassilo Lehmkuhl converted a pass from Theo Miras to put the Gators ahead 1–0. Just five minutes later, Cristo Sanchez Cabrera doubled the lead off an assist from Cooper Thompson, giving Notre Dame firm control of the match.

Sanchez Cabrera struck again in the 68th minute, finishing a well-worked play assisted by Athanasios Ziliaskopoulos and Maxime Baux to make it 3–0. From there, Notre Dame's defense, anchored by Gularte in goal, held strong to secure the team's third win of the season and second shutout.

The Gators outshot Penn State Brandywine 21–3, including a 9–1 edge in shots on target, and earned eight corner kicks. Gularte made one save in the clean sheet.

With the win, Notre Dame (3–6–4, 3–2–2 conference) closes out the regular season with the #4 seed in the United East Conference. That earns the Gators a first round bye and will host #5 seed Penn College on Saturday, November 1 at 12 PM. NDM played to a 0-0 draw against Penn College in a regular season match on October 4.
