SELINSGROVE, PA — Notre Dame of Maryland delivered its strongest outing of the young season on Saturday afternoon, powering past King's (PA) for a 97–78 win at O.W. Houts Gymnasium. The victory moves the Gators to 1–3 on the year and showcased a balanced, high-efficiency offensive performance.
Marlon Lewis was unstoppable from start to finish, pouring in a game-high 28 points on 10-of-16 shooting while adding nine rebounds, three steals, and a block to pace the Gators' attack.
Anthony Wright provided a major boost as well, tallying 16 points, four assists, and three rebounds as Notre Dame commanded the paint and pushed the tempo all afternoon.
The Gators trailed briefly in the opening minutes, but a 13–2 run, highlighted by transition buckets from Lewis, Wright, and
Ricardo Ross, flipped momentum and gave Notre Dame a lead they never surrendered. By halftime, the Gators held a narrow 39–36 edge, but their offense exploded over the final 20 minutes as they scored 58 second half points to pull away late.
Notre Dame shot 54.3% from the field and 46.7% from three, turning efficient ball movement and forcing turnovers into repeated fast-break opportunities. The Gators piled up 19 fast-break points and dominated the interior with 50 points in the paint.
Freshman guard
Carlos Green delivered a breakout performance off the bench, knocking down three triples on his way to 11 points, while
Chandler Johnson added 11 points, including a pair of big second-half threes that helped put the game out of reach. Ross chipped in 10 points and five rebounds as the Gators' depth proved to be a major advantage.
Defensively, Notre Dame forced 18 turnovers and turned them into 18 points, while holding the Monarchs to just 38.6% shooting.
Ben Rodner-Tims led King's with 25 points, but the Monarchs couldn't keep pace with Notre Dame's balanced scoring and second-half surge.
The Gators return to action looking to build on the momentum of a commanding all-around performance, their most complete of the season to date.
