UMBC Overpowers Gators 104-22

CATONSVILLE, MD – Notre Dame of Maryland struggled under the bright lights of UMBC's arena, falling to the DI Retrievers 104-22. The Gators drop to 3-6 overall on the season in their penultimate game of the calendar year.

The Gators struggled early on with turnovers with their only points early on coming from a trio of Raina Burns free throws. Alia Austin hit a three pointer from the top of the arc to build some momentum for the Gators late in the first quarter.

Austin hit another midrange jumper to start the second quarter, but NDM went cold again until Burns used an aggressive drive to score a tough layup just before halftime.

It was Austin in the third quarter once again to break a Gator slump with her jumper from the corner. Aaliyah Conteh started the fourth quarter positively for the Gators as she was able to get into the lane for a layup with Tristian
Savage adding a put back layup. Regina Sabirova was able to knock down a jumper late in the game to get on the scoreboard.

Yasmeen Yussuf was able to contribute with seven rebounds, five on the offensive boards, along with a block. Burns and Austin tied for the team lead with seven points each.

NDM will have little time to rest as they turn around to face Goucher College on Wednesday, December 31 at 12 PM. The two teams have not faced off since 2022 when the Gators defeated the Gophers 68-45. Goucher sports a 4-5 record on the season and have lost four of their last five contests.
