PSU-Altoona Slips By NDM 1-0

BALTIMORE, MD – The Notre Dame of Maryland women's soccer team put together a strong second-half push but came up just short in a 1–0 loss to Penn State–Altoona on Wednesday evening at Alumnae Field.

The Gators (1–5) held the visitors scoreless through the opening half behind steady play from goalkeeper Leah Hasberry, who tallied five saves on the night. Notre Dame's defense, anchored by Ariana Rodriguez, Tessa Wiles, Jillian Seay and Kathryn DeGrange, limited Altoona to just five first-half shots.

Penn State–Altoona broke through in the 64th minute when Jordan Yaletsko scored the lone goal of the match off an assist from Taylor Frederick from a long range left footed shot that caromed off the cross bar and into the Gators' goal.

Notre Dame answered with its best offensive stretch of the night, firing all eight of its shots in the second half. Alex Busick led the attack with a game-high five attempts, including two on goal, while Jillian Seay added a pair of shots, testing the Altoona keeper. Madyson Costello also forced a key save in the 77th minute.

Hasberry's strong play in net and the late offensive surge kept the Gators within striking distance, but Altoona's defense held firm to secure the 1–0 result.

Notre Dame returns to action this weekend as they look start United East Conference play as they host Penn State-Abington on Saturday, September 27 at 12 PM.
