Men's Soccer Clinches Postseason Spot with 2-0 Win at Penn College

Williamsport, Pa. - The Notre Dame of Maryland men's soccer team ended the regular season on a high note, claiming a 2-0 victory over Penn College this afternoon.

With the win, the Gators clinch the seventh seed in next week's United East Tournament and face defending conference champions Penn State Harrisburg in the quarterfinals.

A scoreless first half saw the two teams combine for 13 shots.

The Gators got on the scoresheet early in the second half, with a Penn College handball in their own penalty box resulting in Athanasios Ziliaskopolous converting a penalty for his ninth goal of the season.

Just three minutes later, the Wildcats earned a red card, and the Gators scored on the ensuing free kick as Martin Rasiwala found Arnaud Gerin, who flicked a header to Kim O'Sullivan to double the Gators' lead.

The Gators' defense stood strong as they earned their fifth clean sheet of the season, the most in a single season in program history.

David Von Mentlen recorded six saves as he earned his second shutout of the season.

The Gators close the regular season with a 5-6-2 overall record and a 4-4 record in conference play.
