Bryn Athyn, Pa. - The. Notre Dame of Maryland women's volleyball team battled back after dropping the first two sets against Penn State Abington, but the Nittany Lions ultimately claimed a four-set victory on Tuesday evening.
Penn State Abington won sets one and two 25-22 and 25-21 before the Gators fought back to claim set three 25-23. The Nittany Lions finished the match off with a 25-22 win in set four.
The Gators hit .118 for the match to the Nittany Lions' .207. NDMU recorded nine aces and out-dug the hosts 70-65.
Kaliyah Brown led all players with 21 kills, a new career-high for the senior. She added nine digs defensively, falling just shy of a double-double.
Bryanna Carter followed with ten kills, and
Myla Palmer and
Gwen Abnett added six and four kills, respectively.
Carissa Tanseco tied her career-high with 18 digs, a mark she also achieved last week.
Celiana Carabello and
Aleah Johnson each set new career bests in digs with 16 and 14, respectively. Carabello also led the Gators with three aces.
Oliviya Rodriguez recorded a double-double with 44 assists and ten digs, the second of her rookie season. Her 44 assists are tied for the second-most she's recorded in a single match this season, and the Alaskan has three of the league's top-six single-match assist performances.
The Gators are 6-11 on the season and 1-3 in conference play. The Gators are back in action tomorrow night when they host Gwynedd Mercy.
