Gators Strong Performance Nets Another Win

ABERDEEN, MD - The Notre Dame of Maryland baseball team split a doubleheader on Monday afternoon against King's College at the Ripken Complex, falling 2-1 in game one, and winning 10-1 in game two.

Game 1: King's College 2 - Notre Dame of Maryland 1

The Gators dropped game one of the double header 2-1 after a hard fought match.

The Lions struck first in the bottom of the first inning with a solo home run from Troy Neff. The Gators struggled to find their offensive presence until the fifth inning. Chase Cichocki singled to left field to drive in their lone run of the game.

The Lions struck once again to regain the lead in the bottom of the fifth inning with an RBI single from Brendan Kopec which would be the deciding run.

On the mound, Ryan Parks took the loss allowing five hits and two runs (one earned) over all six innings.

Game 2: Kings College 3 - Notre Dame of Maryland 16

The Gators erupted for 16 runs and 11 hits to beat King's College 16-3.

Notre Dame opened up the scoring in the first inning with an RBI single by Ben Boyer and a hit by pitch with bases loaded to lead 2-0. King's College answered immediately with a single to right field to bring in one run to shorten the lead 2-1. Mark Renicke helped keep the lead by throwing out two runners at second to end the inning.

Multiple hits including a double and two singles helped the Gators jump out to a 8-1 lead in the second inning. The Gators padded their lead even more in the third inning with another hit from Boyer which drove in runs from Zane Cook and Renicke which extended the lead to 10-1.

The Gators scored six more unanswered runs in the sixth inning. Reineke started the six-run rally, delivering an RBI single to center field to extend the lead to 16-1.

Boyer led the Gators offensively going 3-for-4 with four RBIs. Tyler Holton contributed with two hits and two RBIs. Deremiek, Renicke, and Cook also contributed with three runs each.

Joshua Boyd earned the win on the mound, throwing two innings with three hits allowed and one earned run.
