OWINGS MILLS, Md. – The Notre Dame of Maryland University softball team played its final regular-season home doubleheader on Tuesday against PSU-Harrisburg.
In game one, the Gators came out on the short end of a 1-0 loss to the Nittany Lions, while the Nittany Lions (20-8, 10-4 United East) defeated the Gators (9-17, 5-8 United East) 11-3 in five innings in the nightcap.
Despite the setbacks, the Gators still control their own way into the postseason. With three games remaining (two versus Cedar Crest and one versus Gallaudet), the Gators can punch their ticket with one win in their last three games.
Game 1 – PSU-Harrisburg 1, Notre Dame 0
Madisen Minney had the lone RBI in the contest, as she hit a double to centerfield, scoring Lauren Maguire for the lone score of the game for the Nittany Lions.
Notre Dame picked up four hits, with
Anabelle Hafner,
Lilyian Hafner,
Gabriella Allred, and
Raina Burns each hitting safely.
Malorie Gogel took the loss, striking out four and walking three in seven innings of work.
Game 2 – PSU-Harrisburg 11, Notre Dame 3
The Nittany Lions broke open a 3-1 game in the third by plating seven runs and then added one in the fourth to end the game early.
Notre Dame got RBI hits from
Claire Smith and
Julianna Leatherwood in the contest.
Smith finished with two RBI, as she and Leatherwood had two hits in the nightcap, while
Anabelle Hafner, Allred, and
Scarlett Miller also hit safely.
Raegan Perkes took the loss, striking out one and walking two in the loss.
