Brian Selby

Brian Selby brings a wealth of experience and success to the Notre Dame of Maryland University men’s basketball program. A seasoned coach with nearly two decades of collegiate experience, Selby has established a strong reputation for developing competitive teams and maximizing player potential.

Selby began his coaching career at Harford Community College, where he served as an assistant coach from 2008–2010 before being promoted to head coach from 2010–2014. During his tenure, he helped elevate the program’s profile through disciplined play and a strong emphasis on team culture.

Following his time at Harford, Selby joined Cecil Community College as an assistant coach from 2014–2023, where he played an integral role in one of the program’s most successful eras. His time at Cecil included:
•    Regional Championships: 2016, 2019, and 2022
•    NJCAA National Tournament Appearances: 2016, 2019, and 2022
•    3rd Place Finish in the 2019 NJCAA National Tournament
•    Conference Championships: 2019 and 2023
•    Coached two NJCAA First Team All-Americans

Known for his leadership, recruiting, and player development, Selby continues to bring passion and experience to every aspect of the game. His commitment to building strong, well-prepared student-athletes has made a lasting impact at every stop in his coaching career.

Selby earned his associates degree in general studies in 2006, and later earned a bachelor’s degree in Sports Management from Bemidji State in 2009.
