Marissa Spears returns to the Notre Dame of Maryland University Basketball staff for her second season as an assistant with the Gators.
Spears joins the staff after leading the Perry Hall Middle School to a 58-5 record during her six years at the helm. During this time, she oversaw all aspects of the program, culminating in three undefeated seasons and four first place finishes.
Spears also serves as an Assistant Coach of the Perry Hall Silver Bullets, an AAU team based out of Perry Hall, Md. Her duties with the Bullets included scouting opponents as well as creating and implementing practice plans and skill development. Her responsibilities include acting as the Assistant Director of the Silver Bullets FUN-damentals Basketball Camp, a camp designed to help build and teach the fundamentals of basketball.
Currently, Spears is a teacher at the Perry Hall Middle School, where she teaches English and Reading. In 2009, she was named Middle School Teacher of the year by the Baltimore County Chamber of Commerce, and received the Excellence in Education Award, an award she was also nominated for in 2007.
