Christina Shields

Christina Shields enters her third year as the Head Athletic Trainer at Notre Dame of Maryland University.

Shields joins Notre Dame after serving as a graduate assistant at the University of Delaware, where she received her Masters of Science in Excercise Science in May, 2012. At Delaware, Shields worked with the women's and men's soccer teams as well as the women's lacrosse, field hockey and men's and women's swimming and diving teams. She also provided care at the University of Delaware women's Lacrosse Camp.

Prior to her work at Delaware, Shields worked with the baseball, fencing, swimming and diving, and women's lacrosse teams, and Lewistown Area high School as a student athletic trainer while attending The Pennsylvania State University , where she graduated in 2010.

Shields has had previous stops along her way, including at The Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Center, where she served as an intern assisting with rehabilitation exercises and the set-up and clean-up of therapeutic modalities. Shields also spent time as a Athletic Trainin Student at the Howard Community College Summer Camp and as a First Responder at The Penn State Sports Camps in the summer of 2008.


She began her work in athletic training as a First Responder for the Dew Action Sports Tour in Baltimore in the summer of 2007 assisting with the observation of practices of the men's freestyle motocross and men's skateboard vertical ramp competition as well as the finals of the men's freestyle motocross. She also served as an intern for the Baltimore Blast and Baltimore Blackbirds assisting with the rehabilitation of Blast athletes during the off-season.

Shields is certified in the NATABOC and is a member of NATA as well as the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. She resides in Millersville, Md.
