Baltimore, Md. - October 1, 2011 - The Notre Dame of Maryland University field hockey team fell 2-1 to visiting Cedar Crest College on a chilly afternoon on Alumnae Field. The loss moves the Gators to 2-4 overall and 0-3 in the league, while Cedar Crest College now stands at 1-7 on the year and 1-2 in CSAC action.

The visitors got on the board at 9:44 in the first half when Becca Lowe deflected a shot past junior goalkeeper Emily Langton (Mays Landing, N.J./Holy Spirit). Despite seven penalty corners and 14 shots, the Gators were unable to get on the board and trailed 1-0 at halftime. Notre Dame's best scoring chance came with seven minutes left to play when freshman Danielle Neumeister (Baltimore/Eastern Tech) had a breakaway that Cedar Crest goalkeeper Lindsay Harrison saved.

The Gators evened things up six minutes into the second half when junior Rachel Jones (Westminster/ Francis Scott Key) deflected a pass from classmate Molly Murray (Aberdeen). Cedar Crest College would answer back at 54:16 when Lauren Salge used a feed from Erin Studer to give the visitors their second lead of the game.

Notre Dame had 14 corners to Cedar Crest's 2 and outshot the visitors 19-11. Langton came up with 5 saves on the day, while her counterpart Harrison turned away 11 shots.

The Gators continue CSAC play when Immaculata University travels to Baltimore for a 4:00 p.m. tilt on Saturday, October. 8.
