Rachel Jones (Westminster, MD/Francis Scott Key) beat the Ravens goalie for her lone goal of the game with 14:24 left in the half. Cumberland picked up her third goal on the afternoon twenty-two seconds later. Junior Dee Waters scored with 9:50 remaining in the half off of a well placed pass by Cumberland. At the 6:55 mark Rosemont scored their lone goal of the game. Terry picked up her fourth goal of the game four minutes later to give the Gators at 12-1 advantage at the half.
As the rain continued to soak the field Notre Dame continued their persistent offensive play. Sophomore Amanda Brenner (Westminster, MD/ Westminster) scored her first ever career goal with 17:48 left in regulation. Kempf picked up one last goal for Notre Dame just past the midway point of the half. The officials called the game early because field conditions began to deteriorate quickly with the heavy rains.
Also contributing to the Notre Dame attack were senior Jill Lieberman (Ellicott City, MD/Centennial) and Katy Bylen (Baltimore, MD/ Eastern Tech). Lieberman was instrumental in retaining Gators possession on shots that went wide of the net. Bylen set several strong screens to create openings for her fellow attackers.
Defensively Notre Dame was sharp over the forty-eight minutes of actions. Lauren McCusker (Sparrows Point, MD/ Sparrows Points) made several key ground balls pickups to get the ball away from the front of Gators’ goal. Nicole Walters (Joppa, MD/ Mercy) made two saves in the conference win.
Notre Dame is back in action on Sunday afternoon when they play host to non-conference opponent University of Dallas at 1pm.
