Kendell Jamison named Head Basketball Coach

Former Gator Assistant Takes Over in 2011-2012

Baltimore, Md. -- Kendell Jamison was named Head Basketball Coach at Notre Dame of Maryland University after spending the 2010-2011 season at the Gators’ Assistant Coach.

"We are excited to have Coach Jamison at the helm of our basketball program. He has true passion and knowledge of the game and is committed to making Notre Dame basketball a contender in the Colonial States Athletic Conference," Director of Athletics Erin Foley said.

Prior to joining the Notre Dame staff, Jamison was the Head Varsity Girls Basketball Coach at the Friends School of Baltimore for five years, leading the Quakers to the IAAM quarterfinals twice and two semifinal appearances.

"Sports participation at high levels is reserved for a small percentage of the population. Providing an avenue for student- athletes to become great people is one way I know how to impact our community for the better," Jamison said. "I developed my coaching philosophy based on what is important to me as a teacher."

The #2 high school player in Orangeburg County (S.C.), Jamison attended South Carolina State University, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Health and Physical Education. A Health and Physical Educator for 17 years, Jamison is currently in the golf industry.

Jamison inherits a team that went 3-22 last season. The Gators open their 23-game schedule at home against Penn State York on November 22.
