Field hockey falls 2-0 at Goucher

Field Hockey opens the 2011 season at Goucher on September 1

Towson, Md.
– September 1, 2011 – The Notre Dame of Maryland field hockey team was edged 2-0 by Goucher College to open the 2011 season under the lights at Beldon Field.

Junior Emily Langton (Mays Landing, N.J./Holy Spirit), who was a 2010 CSAC Honorable Mention, totaled 14 saves in the cage for the Gators. The Gophers opened scoring when Angela Buxton scored with 13:51 remaining in the first half. Taylor Benzel gave the hosts a 2-0 advantage with 5:17 left in the game.

The Goucher defense did not allow the Gators a shot on goal.

Notre Dame (0-1) returns to action Saturday, September 3, when they host Bryn Mawr College on Alumnae Field at 1:00 p.m. The teams last met in 2009, with Notre Dame earning the 3-0 win over the Owls.
