Yanero ’98 inducted into Hall of Fame highlights annual banquet; Terry, Cumberland, and Berry and earn major awards

Baltimore, Md. - Notre Dame of Maryland University held its annual end of year banquet in the Marion Burk Knott Sports and Activities Complex Friday, May 11.
 
Emily Yanero ’98 represented the 22nd Hall of Fame class. The three-sport standout was represented by her parents, Fred and Jan Yanero, at her induction and sent a video to highlight her experiences as a member of the volleyball, basketball, and tennis teams. Yanero was the state of Maryland’s NCAA Woman of the Year in 1998, highlighting her four-year volleyball and three-year basketball and tennis careers.
 
The Department’s major award winners included soccer and lacrosse standout Allison Terry winning the Patricia McLaughlin Award winner as the Outstanding Underclass Student Athlete for the second consecutive year, while teammate Ashley Cumberland received the Sister Bernice Feilinger Award as the most outstanding senior student-athlete. Junior swimmer Shannon Berry received the Mary Laverty Funke Award for Spirit, Dedication, and Scholarship to Notre Dame Athletics.
