Strong First Half Falls Short For Soccer

Box Score Langhorne, Pa. --  Notre Dame of Maryland University played a strong first half, taking a 1-1 halftime tie at Cairn University, but the Highlanders knocked in a late minute to defeat the Gators 2-1 in a Colonial States Athletic Conference contest.

Trailing 1-0 late in the first half, sophomore Lauren Santi (Accokeek, Md./Elizabeth Ann Seton)  knocked in her fourth goal of the season in the 39th minute, putting the ball over the keeper's head.  Freshman Desiree Sowers (Chewsville, Md./Smithburg) provided her first career assist on the goal.

After playing an even, scoreless game for the next 44 minutes, the hosts managed to place the ball into the net in the games 83rd minute to take the 2-1 victory.

Notre Dame will now return to Alumnae Field on Saturday as they will host Cedar Crest College in what will serve as Senior Day for the squads seniors.  The team will conclude their 2013 campaign on Halloween by inviting Neumann University to campus.
