Field Hockey Scores Most CSAC Goals Since Joining League To Celebrate Senior Day

Box Score Baltimore, Md. --  A program best highlighted Senior Day as Notre Dame of Maryland University hosted Colonial States Athletic Conference rival Cedar Crest College in field hockey action.

The Gators posted four goals in the contest, the most goals scored in a CSAC game for Notre Dame since joining the league in 2007.  The four goals also tie for the most goals scored in a game since the 2006 season.

Trailing 2-0 early in the game, freshman Erica Deppenschmidt (Philadelphia, Pa./Philadelphia School for Girls) knocked in her first career goal, scoring on a pass from sophomore Sawyer Butto (Wyomissing, Pa./Sacred Heart University) in the 26th minute.  Just over a minute later, Butto knocked in her first of the season to tie the game heading into halftime.

To begin the second half, junior Ashley Fallon (Baltimore, Md./Kenwood) scored her second goal of the season in the 38th minute redirecting the ball in the air on a pass from Butto, for Butto's second assist of the day.

Cedar Crest managed to tie the game in the 47th minute at 3-3 before Fallon scored her third of the season, and second of the game, unassisted in the 49th minute to give the Gators back the lead.

Unfortunately, the Falcons were able to notch the score back to 4-4, scoring in the 53rd minute, sending the game into overtime.  In overtime, it took Cedar Crest just over three minutes to score the game-winning goal and take a 5-4 victory.

Prior to the game, the team honored senior Christina Tripp (Baltimore, Md./Polytechnic) and junior Danielle Neumeister (Baltimore, Md./Eastern Tech), who were both appearing in their final game at Alumnae Field.

The Gators will return to action on Monday as they will travel to crosstown rival Goucher College, and will conclude their 2013 season on Wednesday, travelling to Bryn Mawr College.
