Jones' Last Minute Goal Seals CSAC Victory

Box Score Allentown, Pa.  --  Junior Kelsey Jones (Mountaintop, Pa./Towson University) scored with 54 seconds remaining to seal a 3-2 victory over Cedar Crest College as Notre Dame of Maryland University's field hockey team won their first Colonial States Athletic Conference matchup of the season.  The victory also marks the Gators first CSAC win since the 2008 season and their first win over the Falcons since 2007.

Freshman Cynthia Agouru (Baltimore, Md./Eastern Tech) scored two first-half goals to give the Gators a 2-0 first-half lead.  Freshman Michaela Olson (Kingsville, Md./Perry Hall) notched the assist on Agouru's first goal. Jones assisted on Agouru's second goal.

The Gators outshot the hosts 21-9 on the afternoon.

Agouru gave Notre Dame an early 1-0 lead after scoring from Olson in the eighth minute.  She extended the lead in the 18th minute when she knocked in a goal off a Jones pass, giving the Gators a 2-0 lead at intermission.  Notre Dame held on to their lead until the 65th minute when the Falcons scored their first goal of the game.  Two minutes later, CCC tied the game at 2-2 with just 3:40 left in the game.

With 54 seconds remaining, freshman Kelsey Baumgart (Baltimore, Md./Sparrows Point) passed the ball to Jones, who knocked the ball into the net and sealed Notre Dame's first CSAC victory this year.

Notre Dame will now return to action on Saturday as they travel to Neumann University seeking their second CSAC win.
