Box Score Frederick, Md. -- ,A larger offensive output wasn't enough for the Gators, as Notre Dame of Maryland University struggled to find the net against in-state rival Hood College, as the field hockey team fell to the Blazers 3-0 in the squad's second game of opening weekend.,

Notre Dame saw six players notch shots, led by junior Kelsie Jones (Mountaintop, Pa./Towson University), who posted six shots on the contest. ,Freshman Taylor Clark-Hartman (Havre de Grace, Md.) added three. ,Senior Katie Johnston (Baltimore, Md./Catholic), sophomores Samantha Guntz (Baltimore, Md./Sparrows Point), Michaela Olson (Kingsville, Md./Perry Hall) and freshman Kelsey Baumgart (Baltimore, Md./Sparrows Point) also took shots for the Gators.,

Hood took advantage of a slow start by the Gators, notching goals in the third and eighth minute of the game to take an early 2-0 lead.  Afterwards, Notre Dame played even with the hosts until the 66th minute of the game when the Blazers added a third goal to provide the 3-0 final score.,

The Gators will now enjoy a week from action before traveling to Virginia next weekend to take on Sweet Briar College on September 6 and Ferrum College on September 7. ,
