The squad then followed with another 3-2 heartbreak, falling to Colonial States Athletic Conference foe Cairn University in another heartbreaker. ,

Notre Dame finished the day falling to CSAC rival Immaculata University 3-0. ,

In the opener with the host Nittany Lions, the Gators took the first set 25-23 before dropping the next two by 25-20 and 25-23 and rebounded to take the fourth set 25-20. ,Unfortunately, Notre Dame couldn't keep the momentum, dropping the fifth set 15-12.,

In the second match of the day, facing Cairn, Notre Dame claimed the first two sets 25-18 and 25-21. ,However, the squad ran out was unable to pull out a third set victory, falling 25-19, 25-22 and 15-13 in the next three sets for the 3-2 defeat.,

In the Finale with the Might Macs, the Gators struggled to overcome their two earlier heartbreaker as they fell 25-19, 25-9, 25-14. ,

Offensively, senior Marylu Ortiz (Oceanside, Calif./El Camino) led the way with 50 kills and added four aces on the day. ,Freshman Bobbi McDowell (Shady Side, Md./Bishop McNamara) added 21 kills in her debut. ,Freshman Jaime Reyes (Yorba Linda, Calif.) posted 115 assists and four aces. Sophomore Cleaya Antes (Carson, Calif./California Academy of Math and Science) notched 10 aces to pace the squad.,

Defensively, Antes led the Gators with 59 digs while freshman Grace Park (Clarksville, Md./Atholton) chipped in with 49 digs. ,McDowell added 26 digs and also led the squad with 7 blocks. ,Reyes added four and freshman Brooke Bowman (Garden City, Mich.) contributed three. ,

The Gators will return to action on Wednesday as they travel to in-state foe McDaniel College. ,Last season, the team split their matchups with the Green Terror. ,
