Soccer Claims First Victory Over Immaculata In Program History

Box Score Immaculata, Pa.  --  Notre Dame of Maryland University's soccer team claimed their first-ever victory over Colonial States Athletic Conference rival Immaculata University.  The 2-0 win also marks their sixth shutout of the season

The Gators took a first half lead just 5:07 into the game when freshman Meghan Conner (Huntington, Md./St. Mary's Ryken) notched her 15th goal of the season.

Sophomore Alla Stepanov (Baltimore, Md./Kenwood) would give Notre Dame some breathing room in the 61st minute when she found the net for her fourth goal of the season off a pass from junior Cristina Barrios-Lopez (Glen Burnie, Md.).

Immaculata would put pressure on the defense throughout the game, as they would outshoot the Gators 18-10, but the defense held strong, led by freshman goalkeeper Lilly Gordon's (Delta, Pa./Kennard Dale) 11 saves.  Conner would pace the Notre Dame attack with six shots.

With the win, Notre Dame improves to 8-2 on the season, 2-2 in league play.  The win eight wins mark the most in a season since an 8-8 season in 2006, while the six shutouts are second in school history, and the most since 2005. The team will return to action on Saturday as they look to improve to over.500 in conference play by visiting Summit University.
