Strong Second Half Fuels Comeback Victory

Box Score Baltimore, Md.  --  Cedar Crest College held a 1-0 lead at halftime, but the Notre Dame of Maryland University soccer team notched two goals in the second half to fuel the Gators to a 2-1 comeback victory for their first Colonial States Athletic Conference win of the season.

The Falcons would take the lead in the 16th minute and held the lead through the rest of the first half.  In the 61st minute, sophomore Raeden McCullough (Baltimore, Md./Greater Grace Christian Academy) would blast a ball of the CCC goalkeepers hands to tie the game with sophomore Alla Stepanov (Baltimore, Md./Kenwood) assisting the goal.  Nine minutes later, Meghan Conner (Huntingtown, Md./St. Mary's Ryken) notched her 14th of the season as she booted the ball past the keeper into the bottom right corner of the net to give Notre Dame the lead, and eventual 2-1 victory, taking the pass from junior Brittany Smith (Parkville, Md./Howard Community College).

The Gators would outshoot the Falcons 22-7 on the day, as Conner led the way with six shots and McCullough added five.  Senior Savannah Ferrara (Sykesville, Md.) and sophomore Lizzie Balog (Hagerstown, Md./North Hagerstown) each chipped in three goals.

Freshman goalkeeper Lilly Gordon (Delta, Pa./Kennard Dale) finished the day with four saves.

With the victory, Notre Dame improves to 7-2 on the year and will return to action next Saturday as they host CSAC power Marywood University on Alumnae Field.
