Soccer Wins Third Straight To Open Season

Box Score Washington D.C.  --  Notre Dame of Maryland University's soccer team defeated Gallaudet University 3-0 to give the team their third straight victory, and third straight shutout, to start the season.

Freshman Megan Conner (Huntingtown, Md./St. Mary's Ryken) scored two goals to push her season total to 10, and also added an assist.  Sophomore Lizzie Balog (Hagerstown, Md./North Hagerstown) knocked in her first career goal while senior Lauren Santi (Accokeek, Md./Elizabeth Ann Seton) and freshman Lyndsey Rehak (Baltimore, Md./Redeemer Classical Christian) each added an assist.

As a team, the Gators would out shoot the Bison 20-4, and have now out shot their opponents by a total of 128-8.

Conner would give Notre Dame the lead in the 21st minute scoring off a pass from Santi in transition.  She would then score six minutes later, this time off a pass from Rehak that she knocked into the lower left corner.  The two goals would be all either team would notch, sending the teams into halftime with a 2-0 Notre Dame advantage.

In the second half, Balog found the net for the first time of her career in the 63rd minute as Conner would assist on the goal to seal the Gators 3-0 victory.

Notre Dame improves to 3-0 on the year, which is their best start since 2012 and will return to action on Saturday as they host Sweet Briar College.  A win will give the Gators their best start since the 2002 season when the program would start 5-0.
