GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa. – The soccer team was at Gwynedd Mercy tonight. It was a battle until the very end, as both teams traded shots, making clutch defensive stops along the way.
Despite scoring the game's first goal, the Gators would go on to lose 2-1 and fall to 2-9 on the year and 1-6 in the Colonial Stats Athletic Conference.
Sophomore Lily Gordon's pass found classmate Meghan Conner in the 18th minute, who found the back of the net from 18 feet out for her third tally on the year.
Notre Dame's defense was solid in the first half, as the club allowed just three shots on goal. The Griffins would answer in the 64th minute and go on to take the lead 76 seconds later.
The club had its chances down the stretch but was unable to take advantage of key opportunities, as a pair of clutch saves from Kailey Hopkins iced the Gators.
Notre Dame has five games left, all conference opponents. The team will have to win out for a chance at a playoff berth. The Gators host Clarks Summit (1-12, 0-7 CSAC) on Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
