BALTIMORE, Md. – Field hockey fell 9-0 today to Wilson College at Alumnae Field. As a result of the loss, Notre Dame falls to 1-2 on the year.
The Phoenix scored five goals in the first half. Wilson got on the board early with a 13 minute goal and never looked back, as the Gators were outshot 20-1.
The Gators had a prime opportunity to enter the scoring column in the second half, but sophomore Megan Morales' shot went just wide. Seconds later, sophomore Peace Ani found herself in front of the net but a stellar save from the Wilson goalie kept the Gators off the board.
Phoenix's Miranda Long netted a game high three goals and added a helper, while Brooke Clark scored a pair of goals.
Senior De'Ja Martin stopped and impressive eight shots in the first half. The senior finished with 11 total in the loss.
The field hockey team travels to Frostburg, Md. For a Monday night game against Frostburg State (2-2). The action is set to begin at 7 p.m.
