BALTIMORE, Md. – It is a big day for Gator Athletics, as soccer, tennis, field hockey and volleyball will be hosting games today at Alumnae Field, NDMU Tennis Courts and MBK Court.
Soccer, tennis and field hockey welcome the Keystone College Giants at 12 p.m., 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m., respectively, while the volleyball team hosts Clarks Summit University at 4 p.m.
The soccer team is 2-3 on the year and 1-0 in the CSAC and looks to step back into the win column today after falling to Marymount on Wednesday. Despite the loss, sophomore Meghan Conner netted her second goal on the year, while four Gators combined for five shots on goal.
On the year, Conner leads the club with six points, while junior Elizabeth Balog and sophomore Jessie Lindenkohl are second on the team with a combined eight points, two goals apiece.
The Giants earned a 2-0 win over SUNY-Delhi on Tuesday, improving the club to 3-3 on the year. Rebecca Lewis and Shauna Menzella own a pair of goals on the year, while Cassie Ehrhart leads the team in points with a goal and three assists.
The tennis team also hopes to step back into the win column after suffering a loss to defending CSAC champion, Gwynedd Mercy. The Gators are 2-2 on the year and 2-2 in the CSAC.
Seniors Carrie Naylor, Natalie Smith and Kaitlyn Sommer are 2-2 on the year in their number two, three and four singles matches, respectively.
Field hockey is 1-3 to start the year but there's plenty of time to turn the tides. Their meeting against the Giants is their first conference matchup this year.
Sophomore Megan Morales ranks fourth in the CSAC with 16 shots and is sixth in points, with eight, on three goals and two assists. Freshman Jessica Wells and sophomore Peace Ani have each recorded a goal on the year.
The volleyball team comes into its matchup with the Giants as one of the hottest teams in the conference at 8-1 overall. The Gators tallied six straight sweeps to start the year, with their only loss coming at the hands of Manhattanville. Since then, Notre Dame has swept its last two matches, with 3-0 wins against Centenary and Cairn.
The Gators rank first in NCAA Division III with 6.21 aces per set and -0.197 opp. hitting percentage.
Senior Cleaya Antes and junior Ricelle Taganas play a large part in their team's national recognition, as Antes currently sits in first place in the country with 1.75 aces per set and is fifth in the nation with 35 service aces, while Taganas sports a 1.35 aces per set mark, good for second in the country.
