Field Hockey to Open Home Slate Today Against Hood

BALTIMORE, Md. – Second year field hockey head coach Kara Zimmerman will look to build on Saturday's 5-0 win at Sweet Briar today, when the club hosts Hood College at 4 p.m.

This past season, Notre Dame sophomore Megan Morales became the first field hockey player in program history to be named Colonial States Athletic Conference Rookie of the Year. Morales finished her 2015 campaign ranked sixth and ninth in the CSAC with 11 goals and 23 points, respectively.

The sophomore got off to a hot start in Saturday's win over the Vixens. Following goals from sophomore Peace Ani and freshman Jessica Wells, Morales netted the game's last three goals and even added an assist in the win. Senior De'Ja Martin earned her first win in net after seeing 70 minutes of action.

The Blazers fell 4-0 to Shenandoah in their season opener. Hood goalie Hailey Poisal stopped a career high 24 shots but the Hornets were able connect on a pair of goals in the first and second half to claim victory.

The last time the Gators and Blazers met was on August 30, 2014. NDMU saw six players tally shots but they were unable to find the back of the net, as Hood took home the 3-0 win.

Fans don't forget to bring toiletry items such as shampoo, conditioner, feminie hygenine products, etc. in exchange for free NDMU gear! Donations go to Parts for Peace, a charity founded by an NDMU alumni, that serves gap families in Baltimore.

Dinner will be relocated to Alumnae Field and can be purchased with a meal swipe or $10.
