Box Score LANGHORNE, Pa. – Notre Dame soccer faced off against Cairn University in Colonial States Athletic Conference action Tuesday afternoon. Despite a strong second half by the Gators, Notre Dame would fall, 2-1.
Cairn posted four shots in the first 11 minutes of the first half. Goalkeeper
Loren Pardoe tallied three saves on the Highlanders three shots on goal. After two shots by junior
Meghan Conner, one that narrowly missed, hitting the post, the Highlanders would get on the board in the 23
rd minute. To close out the half, both teams would register a shot, but Notre Dame and Cairn would go into halftime with the Gators down, 1-0.
To open the second half, Cairn would get on the board again early, scoring in the opening minute. Despite the early goal by the Highlanders, the Gators would hold the momentum in the majority of the second half. In the 57
th minute, Conner would blast a shot past the Cairn keeper to score the Gators only goal of the game. In the second half, Notre Dame outshot the Highlanders 17-6, but nine saves by the Cairn keeper would help keep the Gators from scoring.
In the game, Notre Dame posted 20 shots, their fourth game this season recording 20 or more shots. Conner led the team with eight shots on the day, while senior
Alla Stepanov and freshman
Morghan McQuaige added four apiece. In goal for Notre Dame, Pardoe finished the game with six saves.
The Gators move to 2-11 overall this season and 1-8 in the CSAC. Next Notre Dame will travel to Cedar Crest on Saturday.
